What I learned from Bible
Study

Last night’s Bible Study
Lesson about the Holy Spirit awaked as many questions as it answered
others. Whenever I would give thought to
The Holy Spirit, it was with a sense of vagueness because I did not know what
it really was. When I heard people talk
about The Holy Spirit, it was talked about along with people speaking in
tongues. I never thought of speaking in tongue as a language, I guess I
reasoned it was not really speaking, it was not a language; that the people did
not know what they were saying or doing.
I remember a person
speaking in tongue (that’s what Momma called it); and as a little girl, and it
was quite disturbing. The lady started
screaming and pulling at her clothes and hair – several women ran to fan her
and hold her down in the seat. Somehow,
she got out into the center isle and continued screaming and pulling at her
clothes and hair while others seemed to be trying to calm or hold her while
others looked on. I remember how much
this frightened me, and I believe in the back of my mind, I hoped The Holy
Spirit never happened to me. I never wanted anything to cause me to act like
that. I believe I stayed away from the subject thinking The Holy Spirit was
something that got on people for whatever reason causing them to act in strange
ways.
Last night’s lesson gave
me a better understanding of Jesus Christ’s power and his love for me. It helped me understand that, as a believer
and accepter of Jesus Christ as my savior that the Holy Spirit lives within me,
growing by my faith and helping me through my faith.
I understand better that
The Holy Spirit is my Comforter, like Jesus Christ was the comforter for his
disciples. He loved and cared for the
Disciples. He taught them about himself
and he fed their hearts with love and stories, the Bible calls parables. And, because he knew his earthly persona was
for a short time (as he now lives in Heaven); he established The Holy Spirit to
do with and for us what he did with and for his Disciples while he was on
earth.
I learned that Jesus
Christ looks out for his children and because he knew his destiny, he did not
want to leave us to chance, so he put in place The Holy Spirit to be that
connection – a link between himself and us.
I learned that yes, The
Holy Spirit becomes a part of us when we truly believe and accept Jesus Christ
as our Savior and that the powers of the Holy Spirit blooms as we grow and
mature in our belief…
